Decr, 1862.

Chief Justice Adams has been

an invalid for the last two

years and has required continued medical care during that time to enable him to perform the duties of his office. I am

of opinion that he cannot with safety remain in this climate another hot season, without a previous visit to Europe, and have therefore recommended him to leave the Colony for not less than twelve months.
